Our client is an innovative and rapidly growing Clean Tech startup, dedicated to grid-stabilization for both high-power and long-duration applications. As they expand their operations, they are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Commercial Director to lead their commercial strategies, specifically focusing on utility companies, with expertise in energy, grid storage, and EV charging.

Position Overview:

As the Commercial Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth by developing and executing comprehensive commercial strategies. With over 10 years of experience, including a significant background in technical sales and a focus on utilities, energy, grid storage, and EV charging, you will bring a wealth of industry knowledge to capitalize on market opportunities and establish lasting partnerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with the company’s overall objectives, with a strong emphasis on the utility sector, energy, grid storage, and EV charging.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct a thorough market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the utilities, energy, grid storage, and EV charging sectors. Stay abreast of industry developments and competitor activities.
  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the utility sector and related industries. Lead negotiations and contract discussions to secure long-term partnerships.
  • Technical Sales Leadership: Oversee the technical sales team, providing guidance and support to achieve revenue targets. Implement effective technical sales strategies to penetrate the utility, energy, grid storage, and EV charging markets.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, such as marketing, product development, and finance, to ensure a cohesive approach to business development across utilities, energy, grid storage, and EV charging.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about regulatory requirements within the utility sector and related industries. Ensure the company’s activities comply with all relevant regulations.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of commercial and technical sales initiatives across utilities, energy, grid storage, and EV charging. Provide regular reports to the executive team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial roles, with a proven track record of success.
  • Extensive experience working with utility companies and a deep understanding of the industry. Experience in energy, grid storage, and EV charging is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Technical sales experience, including a proven ability to sell complex technical solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Engineering background is a bonus.
