You can watch the interview here or read the whole conversation below:

To start off Adrian, could you introduce yourself?

Hi, my name’s Adrian Chippendale, I’m a Managing Consultant leading the civil engineering and renewables markets.

What drew you to recruitment?

As a career, it has fantastic progression opportunities and they’re very clearly lined out. It’s very clear how to get to the next stage, which obviously helps with the financial side of things as well, which is never a downside.

What’s the most used app on your phone?

It’s probably Fantasy Football, to be fair. It’s not going well this year, but I am reigning champion!

What is your favourite thing about your job?

It’s probably the environment in the office, to be fair. Good people around you is always helpful in work, I would say this is especially important in recruitment, where there can be highs and lows.

If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

Jamie Redknapp; he plays golf, has a good time with his mates, looks fantastic and gets to watch football. What more could you want?!

What work-related accomplishment are you most proud of?

Any placement! Probably the first placement stands out because once that hard work actually comes into fruition and you see it moving its great. So yeah, I’d probably say the first placement I made really. A lot of people don’t get there unfortunately.

What do you have on your toast?

I don’t eat much toast, in fairness. I’ve been eating quite a lot of bagels at the moment, and I have eggs on them… I’m fantastic at making scrambled eggs!

What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring recruiter?

Put the work in, really. It does take a lot of work to get moving, but once you do, it’s well worth it.

Describe yourself in one word.

A lot of people would say “competitive”. I would probably agree, in fairness.

What are your professional goals?

I want to continue managing teams, growing them to bigger levels, and potentially going out to New York. We’ve just opened the New York office, so it’d be obviously very exciting to move out there, be closer to my clients that are primarily US-focused, and get face-to-face with them a little bit more.

How do you like to start your day?

In an ideal world, it would be going to the gym – in the real world, it is probably more likely running for a train…

What drew you to your industry?

I work a lot in the renewable side, so a lot of batteries, electric vehicles, and things like that. So, when we make a placement in this world, it feels like we are literally helping to save the world one placement at a time!

Who is your most listened to on Spotify?

Well, I’m actually an Apple Music man, but probably Dave, J. Cole, 21 Savage, Drake, pretty standard stuff.

What are your day-to-day tasks?

Business development, candidate generation, admin, prepping for interviews like this. Head down, crack on.

What’s on your bucket list?

I’m actually going on safari next week, so that’s probably up there right now; it’s all I can really think of. I want to see a leopard. I went on a mini one last year and saw a lion and elephants, but the leopards are apparently hard to spot so…
