CrimsonXT has partnered with an industry leader, searching for an experienced Mechanical Lead Engineer to drive innovation and lead the development of complex engineering solutions from concept to production.

Role responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Lead Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing advanced centrifugal compressors from concept to prototype and detailed production drawings/specifications, including bearing technology selection and electrical motor applications.
  • Evaluating all aspects of mechanical, bearing, electrical, and control systems to ensure product requirements are met.
  • Managing the product development process, from concept and FMEAs to prototyping, data analysis, engineering release, and production.
  • Collaborating with the engineering team to meet product specifications, production engineering, and operational goals.
  • Preparing and maintaining engineering documentation, including drawings, design reviews, progress reports, lab test results, and certification processes.
  • Analyzing test data to ensure product performance meets market requirements.
  • Planning and developing prototype test programs using Design of Experiments (DOE) for complex challenges.
  • Using simulation tools to model design performance and reliability, supporting DFMEA processes.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design, with expertise in aerodynamics and other mechanical aspects.
  • Experience in product testing and data acquisition, especially for compressor function and performance validation.
  • In-depth knowledge of centrifugal compressor design, including impellers, drive trains, and related components like rotors, motors, and castings.
  • Familiarity with refrigeration and air conditioning fundamentals, as well as industry standards such as AHRI and ASHRAE.
  • Competence in modelling and simulation tools to make informed engineering decisions.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent reporting and presentation abilities for engaging with project review leaders and internal teams.
