Are you looking to join the team building the backbone of AI?

CrimsonXT has partnered with an AI Cloud Platform company that, due to continued growth, is hiring across multiple positions within the data centre space. We are seeking a Category Manager – Mechanical to join the team, ideally based in the Central or West Coast regions.

Role responsibilities:

As the Category Manager – Mechanical, you will lead strategic procurement and supply chain operations for critical mechanical infrastructure within large-scale data centre projects. This role combines sourcing leadership, supplier management, and advanced planning responsibilities to ensure speed, resilience, and scalability across a rapidly expanding global network. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing sourcing strategies for mechanical systems and critical data centre infrastructure
  • Running competitive sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and contract management
  • Partnering with Engineering and Design teams to align technical requirements with supplier capabilities
  • Implementing supplier risk mitigation and dual-sourcing strategies to ensure continuity of supply
  • Overseeing master scheduling and planning activities aligned with project demand and capacity
  • Focusing on speed of delivery rather than purely cost/TCO optimisation
  • Monitoring KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and production efficiency
  • Coordinating closely with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Procurement, Logistics)
  • Managing the full lifecycle of Owner-Furnished Contractor-Installed (OFCI) equipment
  • Overseeing shipping, rigging, and storage logistics for major equipment deliveries
  • Driving digital transformation to automate and streamline procurement workflows
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier and stakeholder relationships

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred), and 5+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing or category management within the Cloud Data Centre or related infrastructure industry. You should also bring:

  • A strong understanding of data centre construction and mechanical (MEP) systems
  • Proven experience managing high-value contracts and multi-vendor strategies
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and risk mitigation skills
  • Proficiency in ERP and planning systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Ability to lead process improvements and cross-functional collaboration
  • Willingness to travel to data centre sites, vendor facilities, and industry events

What’s in it for you?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing, mission-driven team delivering world-class supercomputing infrastructure. You’ll receive a competitive total compensation package (salary + equity), along with:

  • Retirement or pension plan
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous PTO policy
