CrimsonXT has partnered with a rapidly scaling AI Cloud Platform company that is expanding its data center footprint globally. We are seeking a Category Manager – Electrical to join their high-performance team, ideally based in the Central or West Coast regions.

Role responsibilities

As the Category Manager – Electrical, you will lead strategic procurement and supply chain operations for critical electrical infrastructure across major data center build-outs. This role blends strategic sourcing, supplier management, and advanced planning responsibilities to ensure speed, resilience, and scalability across a rapidly growing network.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing sourcing strategies for key electrical systems such as LV switchgear, UPS systems, busway, and ATS
  • Leading competitive sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and contract management
  • Aligning supplier capabilities with technical specifications in partnership with Engineering and Design
  • Implementing supplier risk mitigation, dual-sourcing strategies, and performance improvement measures
  • Overseeing Master Production Schedules (MPS) aligned with demand forecasts and capacity constraints
  • Prioritising speed of delivery over pure cost/TCO optimisation
  • Monitoring KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and production efficiency
  • Collaborating with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Procurement, Logistics) to balance supply and demand
  • Using ERP and APS tools to enhance visibility, accuracy, and scheduling
  • Managing the full lifecycle of OFCI (Owner-Furnished, Contractor-Installed) equipment
  • Coordinating logistics, shipping, rigging, and storage for major equipment deliveries
  • Ensuring data integrity through documentation, audits, and continuous improvement
  • Creating playbooks, procedures, and training materials for procurement and planning workflows
  • Driving digital transformation initiatives to streamline processes
  • Defining supplier KPIs, SLAs, and business review cadences
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across Engineering, Construction, and Operations
  • Supporting change management, escalations, and project realignments

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field (Master’s preferred) and 5+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing within Cloud Data Centers or similar infrastructure environments.

You should also bring:

  • Strong understanding of data center construction and critical MEP categories
  • Experience managing high-value contracts (> $50M) and multi-vendor strategies
  • Skilled negotiation, supplier management, and risk mitigation capabilities
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), APS tools, and planning software
  • A track record of implementing new processes and driving cross-functional improvements
  • Willingness to travel to data center sites, vendor facilities, and industry events
