CrimsonXT has partnered with a global leader in chiller and refrigeration technology. This innovative company is expanding its engineering team and is seeking an experienced R&D Project Lead Engineer to drive customized chiller product designs from concept to completion. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this is an onsite role offering a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for professionals passionate about product development.

Role responsibilities:

As an R&D Project Lead Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Applying industry knowledge to create unique chiller and refrigeration ideas and concepts.
  • Coordinating with relevant departments to manage project timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure the quality and availability of components.
  • Collaborating with marketing, sales, and production to evaluate the cost feasibility of projects.
  • Generating technical documentation to support marketing and sales initiatives.
  • Developing prototypes and overseeing product testing and evaluation.
  • Performing engineering calculations and simulations to ensure compliant component selection and specifications.
  • Maintaining design integrity through the PDM product data management system.
  • Creating and presenting technical data for the sales and representative network.
  • Leading and directing design teams to achieve project deliverables on schedule.
  • Managing workloads, providing feedback to the Engineering Manager, and contributing to performance reviews.

Expectations:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or related Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in chiller or HVAC manufacturing.
  • Proven experience as a project leader with a passion for product development and minimal supervision.
  • Strong team collaboration skills and the ability to work across disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Experience with 3D modelling software such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks (other software experience will be considered).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE/ANSI/ASME codes and design requirements (an asset).
  • Familiarity with HVAC control systems, electrical systems, and heat, cooling, and refrigeration systems (preferred).
