CrimsonXT have partnered with an exciting start-up in the battery manufacturing space in search of a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a key player in the leadership team, the CFO will be instrumental in shaping the company’s financial strategy and driving sustainable growth. This role requires a hands-on leader to oversee all financial functions, including fundraising, accounting, financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy and long-term business plan, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and vision.
  • Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis, to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO and executive team to guide decision-making and fuel business expansion.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and accounting standards.
  • Manage the company’s cash flow, including invoicing, payments, and financial transactions.
  • Design and implement financial and operational controls to manage risk and support growth.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and lead the company through its first external audit.
  • Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, such as investors, banks, auditors, and regulators.
  • Lead financial due diligence efforts for potential acquisitions or strategic partnerships.
  • Support fundraising activities, including equity and debt financing, and maintain strong relationships with investors and financiers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency and optimize financial performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial leadership roles, including experience as CFO, Controller, or VP of Finance.
  • Industry experience in energy, battery technology, or related manufacturing sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven experience in investor relations and working with financial institutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and build strong relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial processes such as planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations, laws, and industry accounting principles.
  • Experience with fundraising and capital management in a startup environment is a plus.
  • Must be based in/or open to relocation to Chicago
