Our client’s innovative smart thermostats are designed to cater to small and medium-sized businesses, offering the benefits of a full-scale Building Management System (BMS) at a more affordable cost. As the Business Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in scaling the business, expanding its market presence, and driving sustainable growth in the US market.

Role Overview:

As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategies to promote our products to potential clients. Your primary focus will be to drive sales and foster long-term relationships with customers, while also collaborating closely with internal teams to achieve business objectives.

This is a remote position, but travel across the US would be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Analysis and Strategy Development:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential customers, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop effective market entry strategies and go-to-market plans to target small and medium-sized businesses within the commercial and industrial space.

Sales and Revenue Generation:

  • Execute sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets, increasing market penetration and product adoption.
  • Identify and nurture sales leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and attending industry events.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build strong and enduring relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and challenges.
  • Provide excellent customer service, address inquiries, and provide technical support when necessary.

Product Promotion and Presentations:

  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of our client’s smart control solutions to potential clients through presentations and demonstrations.
  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and events to showcase our products and engage with potential customers.

Sales Forecasting and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions using CRM software.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and performance reports to the management team.


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within the commercial HVAC market.
  • Proven track record in B2B sales and demonstrated an ability to develop new business within the commercial or industrial sectors, preferably in energy management, building controls, or HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with a proactive and self-motivated attitude.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel within the US to meet clients and attend industry events.
